Boggabri Solar Farm
Providing energy that is
Renewable
Reliable &
Affordable
Located approximately 3km west of the Boggabri township, the proposed Boggabri Solar Farm by CleanPeak Energy is in its planning stages. The project aims to develop a 4.99MW photovoltaic electricity generating system which would comprise over 12,000 solar panels, ground-mounted on single axis tracking arrays to follow the daily east-west movement of the sun.
A 20MWh BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) will also be developed on site, allowing for the storage of excess electricity generated throughout the day.
The solar farm is to be built on existing farming property, set to occupy just 20.7 hectares while leaving the remainder of the farm as-is for ongoing agriculture.
The location of the proposed Boggabri Solar Farm was chosen because of its ideal connection opportunity with nearby transmission lines. Once complete, the project would be connected to the local distribution network, expected to supply over 10,000MWh of clean energy annually. That’s enough clean energy to avoid around 7,000 tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere every year.
The solar farm layout has been carefully designed to protect the environmental aspects of the site, minimise the removal of native vegetation and avoid areas of cultural sensitivity.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Solar farms are integral developments to the transition of clean energy and for achieving sustainability goals towards reaching net-zero. The Boggabri Solar Farm is a small-scale project, generating 4.99MW that will help to facilitate the integration of renewable energy into the national electricity grid, helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
-
CleanPeak Energy is dedicated to initiating a smooth process throughout the development and construction stages of this solar farm and are committed to keeping the nearby residents informed on updates to construction activities and timelines.
-
Throughout our planning process, CleanPeak Energy carefully considers the visual impact of the site from the surrounding areas. We develop comprehensive landscaping plans to provide vegetation screening along the boundaries of the site, once established, the native trees and shrubs will significantly reduce visibility of the solar farm and contribute positively to the local biodiversity of the site.
-
Our solar farms are designed and operated to very high safety standards, and fire hazards are thoroughly considered in this process. For the Boggabri Solar farm, we engaged both a fire safety specialist and a bushfire specialist to assess the risks specific to this site and recommend the best approach to minimise them.
To prevent fire from spreading to or from the solar farm and the Battery Energy Storage System, we implement controls such as:
A dedicated fire water tank
Roads designed for fire truck access
Asset Protection Zones around the site
Ongoing grass and vegetation monitoring and management to reduce bushfire risk
CleanPeak Energy also follows detailed safety management plans throughout the entire project lifecycle to ensure safe construction and operation.
-
CleanPeak Energy will work closely with the local community and ensure noise disruptions will be kept at minimum and communicated with nearby stakeholders in advance. Construction noise will be contained to working hours with vehicles accessing the site prior and after work hours for commuting purposes.
-
CleanPeak will upgrade nearby roads and intersections to a rural road standard. The upgrade will be undertaken at the commencement of the project works and will be revisited at the completion of the works. During construction, approximately twenty workers will be accessing the site during working hours using utes or small trucks.
